Actor Oh Jung-se's Baeksang Arts Awards Acceptance Speech

Success is not solely defined by effort, just as failure does not always stem from a lack of ability. These words offer a warm embrace to anyone working diligently while waiting for their moment to bloom.

With every drama, movie, play, or independent film, I’ve found a small measure of personal growth. Some forced me to reflect, some offered comfort, and others brought a spark of enlightenment I wanted to share.

I’ve worked on over a hundred projects. Some succeeded, some failed miserably, and some even won prestigious awards. But strictly speaking, I poured the same heart and effort into every single one.

Looking back, I realized something important. The good results weren’t solely because I was outstanding, and the failures weren’t simply because I was lacking.

The world is full of ordinary people working diligently. Yet, the world feels unfair. It seems unjust that those who steadfastly do their jobs aren't guaranteed equal rewards.

But even so, please do not be disappointed. Do not get tired. Do not give up. Whatever you are doing, keep doing it.

Do not blame yourself.

It is not your fault. Just keep going. Eventually, the comfort and rewards you missed—despite doing the same hard work—will find you. For me, that was When the Camellia Blooms.

I believe you will all meet your own Camellia soon.

When life is hard and you feel the world doesn't recognize you, please tell yourself this: "I will find my own Camellia soon." I hope your Camellia blooms beautifully.
